Job Description

The German Robotics Society (DGR) is seeking a visionary and accomplished leader for the position of Director. This prestigious role involves the scientific and strategic leadership, positioning, and comprehensive further development of the society.

The position is characterized by a high degree of scientific autonomy, decision-making authority, and organizational responsibility. The successful candidate will drive innovation and collaboration across academic, industrial, and governmental sectors in robotics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the overarching strategic direction of the DGR, ensuring its continuous growth and relevance, while maintaining full accountability for personnel and organizational matters.

  • Representation: Act as the primary representative and voice of the DGR, enhancing its visibility and influence in public, political, and international arenas.

  • Alliance Building: Establish, nurture, and expand high-impact strategic partnerships and collaborations with academia, industry stakeholders, and government bodies.

  • Trend Identification: Proactively identify emerging scientific and technological trends in the rapidly evolving field of robotics to keep the DGR at the cutting edge.

  • Program Development: Promote programs to foster next-generation talent.

Job Requirements

  • Scientific Experience: Proven scientific expertise in robotics or a related area, demonstrated for example by a Ph.D. or involvement in an academic or industrial research department.

  • Project Management: Extensive experience in managing projects and budgets, and in steering institutional organizational structures.

  • Network & Influence: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to interface effectively with academia, government leaders, and industrial partners.

  • Leadership Capabilities: A background in personnel or team management, with experience successfully supervising a team and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.
